The yellow 7-car Shinkansen, the 923 series Doctor Yellow T4 formation, retired in January 2025.
Originally, its mission was to silently inspect the equipment of the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen lines and support the daily safe operation, but it captured the hearts of many people, regardless of age or gender, and became a vehicle with rare popularity in railway history.
In this photo album, railway photographer Yuta Murakami spent a year closely following the inside story of T4 before and after its retirement. With the full cooperation of JR Central, it includes the scenery from the driver's cab on the last run, the meticulous maintenance and cleaning work at the vehicle depot, which is normally not open to the public, and the stories of the fans and employees who saw off T4.
